Our coaches

Who is actually coaching your pitcher

Most parents never get a straight answer to this. At a lot of places it is whoever is free that night. Here is exactly who coaches at PPL, how they are trained and who else is in the room.

3,000+Athletes trained
400+College commits
50+Pro baseball players

One system

Every coach is trained by Chad Martin

PPL was founded by Chad Martin, and every coach on our floor is personally trained by him and keeps learning with him every week. That means the coach your athlete sees in Louisville is working from the same system as the one in Lexington, with the same language, the same assessments and the same program.

Not alone

Coaches work next to a physical therapist

Cory Midkiff and the team at Renewed Performance run the movement assessment every athlete starts with. Our coaches build the throwing and delivery work around what that assessment finds, so the coach is never guessing about what the body can and cannot do.

At every facility

A coordinator who knows your athlete

Each facility has a coordinator who runs the floor and is the person you call. In Marion that is Hudson Cornett. Coordinators set up the free assessment, answer questions before you sign up and keep track of how your athlete is doing week to week.

How they coach

Real adjustments, and the reason behind them

Our coaches have developed pitchers who went on to college and pro baseball, and they coach the way they were trained: assess first, explain the why, measure the result on Trackman and video, and change the plan when the athlete changes. Every drill they assign lives in the PPL app with a video, so your athlete always knows what they are working on.

Questions parents ask

Straight answers

Who are the pitching coaches at Pitching Performance Lab?

A team of coaches personally trained by PPL owner Chad Martin, who keep training with him every week. They work alongside a physical therapist from Renewed Performance, and each facility has a coordinator who runs the floor.

Have PPL coaches worked with college and pro pitchers?

Yes. PPL has trained more than 3,000 athletes, including 400+ college commits and 50+ pro baseball players, and our coaches use the same system with a twelve year old that they use with a professional.

Is there a physical therapist at PPL?

Yes. A physical therapist from Renewed Performance runs a full movement assessment for every athlete, and the arm care and throwing program are written from what that assessment finds.

Can I talk to a coach before we sign up?

Yes. Book a free fifteen minute call with a coordinator, or bring your athlete in for the free assessment and meet the coaches on the floor. There is no commitment either way.

Meet the coaches before you decide

The free assessment is the easiest way to meet them. Your athlete throws for a PPL coach, and you leave with a report on what is already good and what we would work on first.
