An Edgertronic high speed camera on a tripod in a PPL bullpen, with a pitcher out of focus behind it

Technology

Every pitch measured, filmed and on your phone

Technology is only worth having if it changes what happens next. Every bullpen at PPL is measured on Trackman, filmed at high speed, and lands in the app, where the athlete, the parent and the coach all look at the same pitch.

Trackman

Every bullpen, every pitch, measured

Trackman reads each pitch as it leaves the hand: velocity, spin, how much the ball rides and runs, extension toward the plate, and where it was released. Those numbers turn a good day or a bad one into something specific, and because they are kept on every pitch, progress over months is a line on a chart instead of a memory.

High speed video

Filmed at up to 500 frames a second

Pitches are filmed on an Edgertronic high speed camera and phone cameras at the same time, and every clip is attached to the exact Trackman pitch it belongs to. Slowed down, a delivery stops being a blur and becomes a sequence a coach can point at, one frame at a time.

In the app

Families see what the coach sees

Athletes and parents open the PPL app and watch their own bullpens pitch by pitch, with the numbers sitting next to the video, and they get a notification when a newly filmed bullpen is ready. Not every pitch is filmed, and the app says plainly which ones were. Families can print their own bullpen report whenever they want it.

Before and after

Progress, lined up side by side

A coach can put an early bullpen next to a recent one, lined up at the moment of release and playing at the same real speed, with the change in every number listed underneath. When it helps, that comparison goes straight to the family, so the improvement is something they can see rather than something they are told.

The human part

Numbers do not coach anybody

The technology tells us what happened. Deciding what to change first, and finding the cue or the drill that lets an athlete actually feel it, is still a coach watching every pitch. It sits alongside a movement assessment from a physical therapist and a phase based throwing program that lives on the athlete's phone.

Questions parents ask

Straight answers

What technology does PPL use?

Trackman on every bullpen, high speed video from an Edgertronic camera and phone cameras, and the PPL app, where athletes and parents watch each filmed pitch with its numbers beside it.

Can parents see the video and the numbers?

Yes. Athletes and parents see their own bullpens in the PPL app, pitch by pitch, and get a notification when a newly filmed bullpen is ready. Not every pitch is filmed, and the app shows which ones were.

What does Trackman measure?

Velocity, spin, how much the ball rides and runs, extension toward the plate, and the height and side of the release point, on every pitch thrown in a bullpen.

How do we see it for ourselves?

Book the free assessment. Your athlete throws a short bullpen on Trackman with the cameras running, and you leave knowing what we would work on first.
